NEXON Co., Ltd. (3659.T), a worldwide leader in free-to-play online games, announced that it has reached an agreement with CHOIROCK
Games Corporation to acquire Shaiya Online, CHOIROCK's online games division.
Under the terms of the agreement, NEXON's consolidated subsidiary, NEXON Korea Corporation, will acquire Shaiya Online and all related assets from CHOIROCK, including its popular MMORPG Shaiya game property. The addition of Shaiya's highly complementary three-dimensional fantasy MMORPG will enhance NEXON's current portfolio of gaming properties and provide additional opportunities to strengthen NEXON's North American and European businesses. Currently published in 16 countries worldwide, the game supports an online community that engages in a detailed, deeply entertaining storyline told through large scale battles containing up to 1,500 players fighting with another 1,500 players at once and allows players to quest for more than 1,000 glories.
NEXON is planning to support Shaiya's already strong following in North America and Europe while leveraging NEXON's global resources to expand Shaiya's presence.
NEXON does not expect this acquisition to have a material impact on our fiscal year 2012 consolidated profit.
